What is “ORGANIC” ?

An organic food is produced through a farming system without the use of antibiotics, synthetic pesticides, chemical fertilizers, growth promoters, GMO and other harmful substances.

In simple words, organic farming focuses on producing food in a more natural, chemical-free, responsible and environment friendly way.

In the context of eggs, an organic egg comes from hens that are fed organic feed, raised on organic land and managed under organic farming standards. This means the entire system, from feed to land to the complete production, is controlled to avoid prohibited substances and maintain purity. This results in a pure, clean egg that is free of these harmful substances.

However, Organic standards focus on the purity of the egg and not so much about enhancing the nutrition. This is where PASTURE-RAISED standards become important.

Understand PASTURE-RAISED

As per the current Government of India rules, any food product sold as Organic requires a certification from the Government under the NPOP or PGS standards and should carry its respective certification mark/logo on the packaging.

Understand ORGANIC CERTIFICATION

However, consumers must be careful. Some brands use the word “organic” in their brand name, tagline or marketing language in a way that can create the impression of an organic product, even when the product itself is not certified organic!!!!
